This beautiful winter hiking trail leads you uphill to the old hamlet of Löwwigadmen or Lauwengadmen above Reckingen. The name of the hamlet can be derived from the german word Lawine (avalanche).

The small compact housing estate Löwwigadmen is located just 100 metres above the mountain village of Reckingen. The circular route is ideal for a short, pleasant walk in the Goms winter landscape.

After the avalanche winter of 1970, an earth wall was built behind the hamlet to protect Reckingen from avalanches. A monument on the village square, which lies opposite the entrance to this tour, still commemorates the devastating natural disaster of the Bächital avalanche.

The prepared snow trail can be combined with other winter hiking trails in the extensive winter hiking trail network of the Goms.

Safety information

The use of the winter hiking trails is at your own risk. Obergoms Tourismus AG disclaims all liability and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information on this website.

Take a map with you or download the complete description of the route with a large-scale map. Use only signposted paths and observe all markings and signs - for your own safety, for the protection of the landscape and in respect for wildlife. Be considerate of other users. Take your rubbish and that of others with you.

Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Adequate clothing and provisions (food and drink) are very important. If the weather is unstable, it is better to turn around early. Carry additional sun protection with you. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, especially in winter, even when the sky is overcast.

Plan your tour carefully and in detail. Inform yourself in advance about the current conditions (avalanche danger, cross-country ski runs, winter hiking trails, snow trails and road conditions) and weather conditions. The winter sports report provides you with valuable information from the region.

The wind can carry me for kilometres and kilometres. Sometimes I pile up into huge mounts. I get all effusive if you jump in me. I give way when you ride through me. I blur your vision. I get the smallest crevices. If you get a taste, you cannot get enough of me. Try and describe me and words will fail you. I turn forests into fairylands. If you glide across me, I will swallow all your sounds. Slide over me and I will give you joy. Tour skis love me. Give me a visit. I am your powder snow.
